„Je ti jasné, že se stěhujeme jen a jen kvůli tobě?“ nadávala mi snad už po tisící Rose.
„Já za to nemůžu,“ odpověděl jsem jí klidně a dál se věnoval házení věcí do krabic.
„NE!?!“ štěkla. „Copak si to nebyl ty, kdo přetáhl tu husičku?“
„Byl, ale nemůžu za to, že si myslela, že ji miluju!“ odpovídal jsem už značně rozčílený.
„Jistě, ty si prostě nemůžeš toho ptáka strčit do nějaké normální! Ne ty musíš najít první káču, ale co tobě je to vlastně jedno, že?“ štěkala na mě a byla bílá vzteky.
„Rosie, pojď. Nemá to cenu.“ Tahal ji pryč Emmet a bylo vidět, jak ho to štve. Já mu nevadil, tedy ne vždy, ale jakmile šlo o tu jeho Rosie. Nechápu tu jejich lásku, v téhle existenci, nic takového není, ani nemůže být. Jsme šutry, nic víc.
„Edwarde?“ přišel mě zkontrolovat Jasper. No jo, on a ta jeho Alice a ty jejich city. Mám je rád, ale lezou mi tím na nervy.
„Jo?“ otočil jsem se na něj.
„Esme se ptá, kdy můžeme vyrazit.“ Řekl rychle a odešel z pokoje.
„Klidně hned!“ zakřičel jsem za ním a jen kroutil hlavou. Ano změnil jsem se. Nebýval jsem tak krutý, k nim a ani k lidem, ale tohle město na mě působilo… No tak jak působilo. V jiných městech jsem se taky otočil za každou sukní, ale v tomhle zapadákově jsem se choval jako hovado.
Ano choval a klidně si to přiznám. V příštím městě to zlepším, pokusím se nebýt na rodinu tak příkrý a hlavně nepřefiknu každou, snad jen každou druhou. Jo, s tím se dá žít.
„Tak můžeme?“ zeptala se mile Esme, když jsem sešel dolů.
„Ano, jistě.“ Odpověděl jsem a šel ven ze dveří.
„Edwarde, co kdy…“
„Esme, já prostě miluji ženy a ony mě. Vím, co chtějí.“ Ano to byla pravda, mé čtení myšlenek mi hodně pomáhalo v jejich získávání. Esme nade mnou zakroutila hlavou a sedla si ke Carlislovi do auta.
