Dave nakonec nic nevyvedl a ještě nám popřál hodně zdaru. Musela jsem se smát, když jsem si uvědomila, že Edward měl pravdu, Dave byl vždy zahleděný do sebe. Aspoň si tolik nebral odmítnutí. A že ho to přešlo rychle, nás ujistilo i pozvání na svatbu s upírkou Vicky, které přišlo o pár týdnů později.

A my? Po boku Blacků se nám nakonec nežilo tak zle. Vzájemně jsme se pochopili a respektovali taneční prostor těch druhých. Jacob pochopil prohru a Billy se dokonce velmi spřátelil s Carlislem. Vypadá to, že se ještě párkrát navštívíme, ale teď se stěhujeme.

Ano nové město, noví lidé a já v podobě pětileté, jak řekl Edward: „Teď budu svou královnu nosit na rukou já!“

Musela jsem se smát, ale nestěžuju si. Je to dokonce příjemné, líbí se mi to opravdu si tak připadám jako královna.

„Líbí se mi tu,“ pochválila jsem Esme výběr domu těsně před tím než na domovní dveře zaťukala naše nová sousedka. Nahodila jsem iluze a čekala, co bude.

Esme jako správná paní domu otevřela a příchozí pozvala dál. My se shromáždili v hale a čekali.

„Dáte si koláček?“ zaculila se hned, jak nás spatřila. A naše reakce? No hádejte, zamrzli jsme v půli pohybu… V očích všech se objevil děs a ústa se křivila do tvaru jednoduché věty:
